Job summary

Under the supervision of the school principal, you will provide instruction, track progress, manage classroom behavior, and collaborate with case managers and general education teachers to support students with IEPs.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree, ISBE license with LBS1 endorsement, and completion of the CPS teaching profile.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
• Completion of the CPS online application and teaching profile at cps.edu/teach.
• A valid teaching license issued by the Illinois State Board of Education, with the appropriate endorsement(s) for the role - information on obtaining a valid teacher license can be found at isbe.net/licensure.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate mastery of content, pedagogy, and student knowledge to design coherent instruction.
• Create a respectful classroom culture with strong management of student behaviors and classroom procedures.
• Respond to the needs of all students with engaging instruction and aligned assessments.
• Exhibit strong communication and professional judgment in interactions with staff and families.
• Prioritize student safety following the Student Code of Conduct and school-wide systems.
• Personalize student learning using curriculum supplements and technology where available.
• Advocate for equity, high expectations, developmental appropriateness, and inclusion of students with special needs.
