Qualifications

Performance Responsibilities
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes in the designated locations and times.
  • Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students as much as possible.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Prepare for classes assigned and provide written evidence of preparation upon request of the immediate superior.
  • Guide the learning process through the establishment of curriculum goals and develop clear objectives to meet those goals.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  • Strive to implement the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives through instruction and action.
  • Assess students’ accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports, including reports to parents as required; implement reading and math management systems, and/or individual education plans and course curriculum outlines where appropriate.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records and their confidentiality as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student conduct for the classroom and school-related activities as set forth by the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
  • Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aides and volunteers, and cooperatively evaluate their performance with department heads or instructional and guidance facilitators.
  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Assess learning needs of students regularly, seeking assistance from district specialists as required.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Maintain professional awareness of current literature related to the assignment, including working knowledge of state and federal law, board policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the administrator or superintendent.
