Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; alternative certification requires passing or being exempted from GACE tests (Basic Skills and Special Education).
• Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate is required.
• Experience: None.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
• Develops and implements IEPs for each student on caseload, at least annually.
• Works with parents/guardians in all aspects of their child's educational program.
• Maintains accurate paperwork within designated timelines.
• Provides educational services per program guidelines and delivery model.
• Assures due process safeguards are upheld for students and parents.
• Delivers instruction per IEPs using research-based practices.
• Implements data-driven behavior management plans (FBAs and BIPs).
• Serves as a resource to general education teachers.
• Meets expectations per general education teacher job description.
• Assists with eligibility process from initiation to completion of IEP.
• Maintains lesson plans per policies.
• Uses assessments and reports progress to parents/guardians.
• Facilitates use of instructional/ assistive technology.
• Adheres to district SPED policies and laws.
• Maintains prompt, professional communication with parents.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
