Job summary

Northwest Regional Education Service District (NWRESD) is seeking a licensed Special Education Teacher for Scappoose School District in a self-contained SEL-focused setting. The role emphasizes individualized instruction and behavioral support within a multidisciplinary team.

The position requires a valid Oregon SPED license, experience with IEPs, and collaboration with staff and families to foster student growth and access to education. It is a temporary 26/27 school year assignment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field; master's preferred.
• Active Oregon Teaching License with Special Education endorsement or ability to obtain.
• Experience developing and implementing IEPs.
• Background in education of students with behavior and emotional disorders.
• Valid driver's license with transportation and proof of insurance.
• Bilingual and biliteracy skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
• Adapt and modify curriculum materials to meet unique student needs.
• Provide direct instruction across subjects, tailoring methods to learning styles.
• Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff for inclusive practices.
• Develop instructional programs addressing IEP goals.
• Utilize behavioral and instructional strategies to achieve objectives.
• Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
• Participate in regular progress staffing on identified students.
• Conduct assessments and contribute to IEP goals and objectives.
• Foster a positive classroom atmosphere supporting social-emotional growth.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about progress.
• Attend professional development to stay current in best practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
