Job summary

North Lamar Independent School District in Texas is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to maximize the learning experience for students with special needs. You will implement district-approved curricula, document progress, and maintain a safe learning environment.

You will participate in IEP development, coordinate with families and agencies, and support teachers with behavior management plans while continuing professional growth in the field.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Special Education principles, theories, testing, methods, etc. and maximizing learning for students with special needs.
• Knowledge of differentiated instruction based on student learning styles.
• Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.

Responsibilities

• Conducts assessments, testing and diagnostic examinations to identify learning issues and suggest corrective procedures.
• Participates in PPTs and helps develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
• Assists in implementing IEPs and behavior plans with students and staff.
• Coordinates with outside agencies and authorities as needed.
• Provides counseling to students and acts as liaison between home and school.
• Maintains accurate records and shares information with colleges and employers as required.
