Job summary

North Lamar Independent School District is seeking a Special Education Teacher to maximize learning for students with special needs. You will implement district curricula, document progress, and address students’ needs in a safe and supportive environment.

Responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing IEPs, coordinating with agencies, and counseling students and families. A Texas Certification in Special Education and a bachelor’s degree are required, with experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Special Education principles, theories, testing, methods, etc.
• Knowledge of differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
• Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
• Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments and diagnostic examinations to identify learning issues and plan corrective actions.
• Assist in developing IEPs for students and implement behavior plans.
• Engage with outside agencies and coordinate with administrators and staff to support students with special needs.
• Provide counseling and act as liaison between home and school to support student growth.
• Maintain accurate records and communicate with parents and colleges as required.
• Support orientation and in-service training for new teachers and staff.
