The position emphasizes collaboration with parents and multidisciplinary teams to develop IEPs and monitor progress within a secure juvenile facility setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education in appropriate subject area.
• Level 4 or higher teaching certification in a special education area from the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
• One to three years of teaching experience.
• GA Clear and Renewable Teacher Certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and indirect instructional support to students in a positive environment.
• Employs strategies and techniques during instruction to develop sensory and perceptual motor skills, language, cognition, and memory.
• Instructs students in academic subjects using various techniques to meet diverse needs and interests.
• Teaches behavioral expectations and supports IEP implementation with positive behavioral strategies.
