Wayne County School District KY invites applications for an Exceptional Child/Special Education Teacher. You will develop and provide specialized instruction, manage IEPs, and evaluate student progress in line with state requirements.

The role emphasizes collaboration with the child study team, coordinating services, and using technology like iPads while maintaining accurate records and parent communication.

Qualifications

• Minimum B.A/B.S degree in teaching from an accredited institution in the appropriate special education area.
• Current Kentucky teaching license in required content area.
• Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of special education and specialty area.
• Thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching of students with disabilities.
• Thorough knowledge of school rules, regulations and procedures; ability to establish and maintain standards of behavior.
• Ability to deliver and articulate oral presentations and written reports.
• Ability to analyze needs and problems objectively.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, students, parents, staff, administration and the general public.
• Knowledge of relevant technology including the use of technology such as i-pads to individualize instruction.
• Meet professional teacher education requirements of school district and state.
• Knowledge and skills in working with children with exceptional needs.
• Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.

Responsabilités

• Provide specialized instruction to meet IEP goals.
• Develop and implement annual IEPs with present levels and services.
• Schedule team meetings and work with child study team.
• Coordinate delivery of special education services.
• Use iPads and other tech to individualize instruction.
• Maintain contact with parents as primary contact.
• Participate in evaluations and reevaluations as necessary.
• Complete district and state reporting requirements.
• Establish classroom structure and discipline.
• Collaborate with professionals and community service providers.
• Consult with teachers on adaptations and interventions.
• Perform other comparable duties as assigned.
