Job summary

The Illinois Association of School Administrators in Illinois is seeking educators to collaborate with special and general education staff, under the direction of the building principal, to provide instruction aligned with students’ IEPs.

Applicants should have a valid Illinois Professional Educator License with LBS1 endorsement and experience teaching or student teaching, with strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills and a solid knowledge of secondary curriculum.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois PEL with LBS1 endorsement.
• Successful teaching or student teaching experience.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills in working with general education teachers, students, parents and staff.
• Strong knowledge base of secondary curriculum.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Strong knowledge of intervention strategies and progress monitoring experience.
• Ability to model teaching strategies to meet the needs of students’ various learning styles.
• Ability to informally assess learning and/or behavioral needs of students & address those needs using documented data.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with all special education and general education staff.
• Work under the direction of the building principal.
• Provide instruction as determined by the students’ IEPs.
• Participate in the development of comprehensive Individual Education Plans for identified students including behavior intervention plans.
• Provide consultation, technical assistance and training to teachers and parents of students experiencing learning or behavioral problems.
• Provide information to parents relative to strategies that can be used at home to support the school’s efforts.
• Take responsibility for implementation of IEPs for students on assigned caseload.
• Other duties as assigned.
