Job summary

MAEF Public Charter Schools (MPCS) invites applicants for Classroom Teachers - Special Education at ACCEL Academy in Mobile, Alabama. This 9-month, 187-day contract focuses on meeting state standards and network grade-level goals, with opportunities to influence curriculum and instructional strategies under the Principal's supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a 4-year accredited college or university.
• Valid teaching certification in middle and high school in the field of employment; or valid license required for the employment content area.
• Demonstrate expertise in the subject matter and/or direct subject-area teaching experience

Responsibilities

• Develop lesson plans that ensure attainment of state standards and network grade-by-grade standards.
• Coordinate lesson plans with other teachers to maximize interdisciplinary teaching.
• Provide direct and indirect instruction.
• Conduct long and short-term planning addressing individual student needs.
• Prepare students for required assessments.
• Evaluate student progress through formative assessments.
• Provide an inviting, innovative learning environment.
• Engage in effective classroom management.
• Report directly to the Principal and accept feedback.
• Serve as an advisor to students and monitor academic/behavior progress.
• Perform other duties as deemed appropriate by the Principal.
