Job summary

KIPP Memphis Collegiate Elementary invites applications for a Special Education Teacher (Functional Skills). Reporting to the School Leader, you will deliver rigorous instruction, plan lessons, and assess student progress to support underserved students.

Qualifications include Tennessee licensure for Special Education, a Bachelor's (preferred) and a Master's in Education is valued; two years of teaching; urban/charter experience and a commitment to equity.

Qualifications

• Tennessee state licensure and Special Education endorsement is REQUIRED.
• Commitment to working with educationally underserved students.
• Two years of teaching experience; urban/charter experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree is preferred; Master's in Education is valued.

Responsibilities

• Plan a program of study and lessons meeting students' individual needs.
• Provide practice activities as developed by curriculum, therapist, or pathologist.
• Create a conducive, developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
• Monitor students for safety and learning progress across environments.
• Use diverse instructional techniques aligned with best practices and district goals.
• Implement the district's education philosophy and objectives.
• Use diagnostics to identify learning strengths/needs for intervention.
• Maintain accurate records as required by law and policy.
• Communicate with parents outside school hours as needed.
• Engage in professional development opportunities and duties as assigned.
