Job summary

Sevita's NeuroRestorative program in Bloomington, IL is actively seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support adolescent participants in a cognitive retraining and educational setting following their rehabilitation. You will provide on-site instructional services, coordinate strategy across the cognition team, and document progress while collaborating with families to ensure student success.

Qualifications

• PEL with LBS1 endorsement is required.
• Master’s degree is required.
• One year of experience in classroom or tutorial settings; experience with special education preferred.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion.
• Commitment to the company’s mission and values.
• Exceptional communication skills with an ability to establish trust and rapport quickly.
• A good listener with an ability to empathize while still providing guidance.

Responsibilities

• Provides educational assistance to program participants at their academic placement.
• Coordinate carry-over strategies developed by the cognitive or trans-disciplinary team.
• Attend weekly clinical team meetings with the communication/cognition team.
• Complete all necessary documentation such as service summaries, reports, billing slips, etc. in a thorough and timely manner.
• Supervise and assist in the development and implementation of the curriculum.
• Develop methods for evaluating student progress.
• Meet with parents and students to provide guidance and seek solutions to problems.
• Implement the policy and procedure of the classroom environment.
• Attend all mandatory program/company training.
• Establish and maintain a supportive working relationship within both the agency, school, and broader community service network.
• Performs other related duties and activities as required.
