Job summary

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is seeking a Teacher for the Missouri Schools for the Severely Disabled. The role requires designing individualized education programs, analyzing learning styles, and coordinating related services to support students with disabilities.

Responsibilities include IEP meetings, behavior support plans, safe and confidential classrooms, and timely reporting. Certification is required or eligible; experience with disabilities is preferred.

Qualifications

• Missouri Teaching Certificate or eligible to attain temporary or provisional certification.
• Experience with individuals with disabilities is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement an individualized education program for students with disabilities using MSSD curriculum and transition goals.
• Analyze each student’s learning style and adapt teaching strategies and activities to meet educational needs.
• Select age-appropriate, functional and safe activities, materials, equipment and sites for teaching.
• Integrate related services into the instructional program and conduct IEP team meetings.
• Coordinate behavioral support/intervention plans for challenging behaviors and communication systems.
• Develop and follow a time-efficient daily schedule for implementing IEPs and supervise teacher aides/volunteers.
• Maintain student health procedures, confidentiality, and a safe learning environment; complete required reports on deadlines.
