Job summary

The School District of Washington is seeking Special Education Teachers for the 2026-2027 school year to provide academic and social-emotional support in a cross-categorical, small-group environment across multiple locations.

Ideal candidates will hold a Missouri Certificate in Special Education, demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills, and build positive relationships with students and stakeholders. This role reports to the Building Principal and Director of Special Education.

Qualifications

• Valid Missouri Teacher’s certificate for Special Education.
• Ability to form safe relationships with students.
• Strong oral and written communication skills; high level organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Encourage student learning and growth through designed instructional activities.
• Implement curricular resources and differentiate instruction per IEPs.
• Use diverse communication with students, parents and professionals to support learning.
• Analyze progress using data and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Maintain records and communicate student progress to stakeholders.
• Support professional development and ethical practices related to the role.
• Collaborate with teams to support student learning and postsecondary outcomes.
• Maintain regular attendance and assist in building operations when needed.
