Job summary

Mason Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Teacher for the Emotional Impairment Program at North Aurelius Elementary. This in-person role supports students with CI needs, collaborates with families and staff, and reports to the Special Education Director.

The position requires a Michigan teaching certificate and CI certification. Located in Michigan, Mason Public Schools emphasizes DEI and community partnership, with a commitment to student safety, growth, and inclusive learning

• Experience with Elementary school level cognitively impaired students

• Ability to develop and assist with student hygiene and toileting plans
• Proficient with data collection and analysis
• Meets Highly Qualified status to teach in a core area of instruction

• CPR Certified and CPI trained

Job Summary:

The Special Education Teacher helps students who have trouble managing their feelings, behavior, or relationships with others. The teacher creates lessons that meet each student’s needs, helps students learn and grow, and teaches skills to handle challenges in a positive way. The teacher works with families, school staff, and other helpers to support each student’s learning, safety, and success.

Physical Requirements:

• This position requires long periods of standing, sitting, and walking.
• The position requires occasional lifting of supplies and movement of classroom furnishings during the course of the school day.
• Work takesplace both indoors and outdoors, with the possibility of some travel to other schools or field trip locations.

Per the MDMEAbargaining unit agreement
