4-Day Work Week (Tuesdays-Fridays)


Job Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic teacher with a positive attitude who is energetic about the subjects they teach, while sharing the passion for learning themselves. Take a look at our job description, and if it fits with your educational philosophy, we want to hear from you!


Responsibilities
Special Education Expectations:
  1. Implement special education as outlined in student IEPs.
  2. Develop and write IEPs for students on caseloads.
  3. Organize and conduct IEP meetings for students on caseload.
  4. Evaluate students for special education according to IDEA and CDE guidelines.
  5. Complete indicator 13 (Secondary Transition IEPs).
  6. Complete paperwork in a timely manner.

Teaching:
  1. Convey knowledge to young people.
  2. Meet each child's academic needs.
  3. Engage all students in the discussion.
  4. Develop appropriate lesson plans based on the curriculum.
  5. Complete relevant paperwork, including documenting student's progress and creating reports, in an accurate, thorough, and timely manner.
  6. Assess and track individual student progress.
  7. Collaborate with other teachers, staff, specialists, and parents.

Adherence to the Mission and Philosophy:
  1. Understand and adhere to the mission and philosophy of the school.
  2. Understand the principles of classical education.
  3. Apply the principles of the trivium.
  4. Develop the intellect of each student to the utmost of their ability.
  5. Develop the personal character of every student.
  6. Demonstrate interest and concern for students at school-sponsored events.

Knowledge of Academic Discipline(s):
  1. Exhibit a breadth of understanding across the curriculum.
  2. Learn, adapt, and teach the chosen curriculum.
  3. Assist in aligning the curricula with Colorado Content Standards when practicable.
  4. Promotion of high academic standards.
  5. Attend all relevant trainings on curricula, programs, school policy and other professional development opportunities.

Maintenance of Classroom Decorum:
  1. Support positive student behavior using PBiS and HAWK expectations.
  2. Enforce the dress code.
  3. Instruct students daily in character development and ensure that they are modeled.
  4. Tolerate no cruelty among students.
  5. Be sensitive to problems as they are developing and intervene immediately.
  6. Maintain a safe and healthy classroom environment.

Maintenance of Good Parental Relations:
  1. Communicate regularly with parents on student achievement and concerns via telephone, email, and interpersonal communication.
  2. Conduct student conferences at assigned times.
  3. Respond timely to parental concerns.
  4. Meet with parents and staff to discuss the educational plan for each student.

Job or Environmental Conditions:

Classroom and playground.


Physical Requirements:
  1. Must be able to push, pull, lift 50 pounds.
  2. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
  3. Must be able to speak to a child at his or her eye level, which may include squatting or sitting on the ground.

Financial Responsibilities:

Occasional handling of field trip, classroom, book, or fundraising money.


Decision Making/Supervising/Confidentiality:
  1. Daily decisions regarding curriculum implementation.
  2. Responsible for maintaining confidentiality regarding all students.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree.
  2. Colorado 5-21 Special Education Teacher License.
  3. Outstanding organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  4. Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  5. Proactive problem solver who demonstrates initiative and teamwork.
  6. Strong work ethic coupled with an enthusiastic and passionate approach to one's work.
  7. Commitment to the belief that all students can learn and to the mission of educational equity.
  8. Ability to use technology seamlessly.
  9. Ability to work effectively under stressful working conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Charter school awareness or experience.
  2. A strong liberal-arts education.
  3. Experience with the Core Knowledge Sequence and/or Classical Education.
