Responsibilities

• Modify curriculum for students eligible for special education.
• Ensure rights of students with disabilities to participate in the general curriculum.
• Implement state and federal laws and regulations as they apply to special education.
• Participate in development and oversight of IEPs for students eligible for special education.
• Incorporate the New Hampshire Frameworks and Grade Level Expectations into student IEPs.
• Communicate learning objectives and their importance to students.
• Use research-based teaching strategies and programs.
• Supervise and support paraprofessionals as they implement instruction.
• Provide direct instruction to 1 to 1 paraprofessionals.
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction.
• Translate lesson plans into learning experiences for effective instruction.
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior for a supportive classroom.
• Evaluate and maintain data on student progress and prepare reports.
• Communicate with parents through conferences and other means.
• Identify student needs and collaborate with other staff to address health, attitude, and learning problems.
• Provide case management of IEP students.
• Maintain quarterly progress reports and contact with parents.
• Consult with classroom teachers regularly.
• Work to improve student performance and district testing results.
• Integrate technology into the curriculum for all students.

• Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss student's progress and interpret the school program.
• Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
• Provide case management of IEP students.
• Responsible for contact with parents and quarterly progress reports.
• Consult with classroom teachers on a regular basis.
• Work to improve student performance and support the district goal of improving standardized testing results by 5-7 percentage points each year.
• Integrate the use of technology into the curriculum for all students.
