Job summary

Fall Mountain Regional School District is seeking an English as a Second Language Paraprofessional to support classroom teachers and ESL learners. The position focuses on providing instructional assistance to individuals or small groups in the regular education setting.

The ideal candidate will hold at least an Associates Degree (preferred) and possess or be able to obtain the New Hampshire Para II Certification within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional assistance to individuals in the regular education classrooms.
• Provide for the safety and well being of student(s) assigned to individual for supervision.
• Observe and respond to inappropriate behaviors of student(s).
• Provide support to the teacher by setting up work areas, displays, classroom materials, and any items as directed by the teacher.
• Work under the direction of a teacher. May help teach subjects as deemed appropriate by the teacher.
• Follow the direction of the classroom teacher in meeting the academic, social, emotional and behavioral needs of the student(s).
• Consult with teachers and ESL Consultant on a regular basis concerning program and material needs of student(s).
• Prepare instructional materials as directed by the teacher.
• Provide a variety of clerical and supervisory duties as assigned by the building principal.
• Assist student(s) with special physical and emotional needs as determined by the teacher and ESL Consultant.
• Assist student(s) with personal needs as determined by the teacher.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
• Paraprofessionals work under the direction of a teacher to offer support to smaller groups of children. They may help teach subjects, support appropriate behaviors and/or offer a variety of support for the classroom.

Terms of Employment: 183 days per year

Qualifications

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Agreement between the FMRSD and the Fall Mountain Regional Educational Support Personnel Association.
