Job summary

Springtown Middle School in Springtown, TX is seeking a Special Education Teacher ALC to provide learning activities and experiences for students with cognitive disabilities. You will develop or modify curricula, prepare lessons, and work in a self-contained classroom aligned with IEP goals.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree and a Texas SPED certificate; at least one year of student teaching or internship in SPED is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignments.
• Knowledge of ARD Committee process and PLAAFP/IEP goals.
• Experience with students with cognitive disabilities; knowledge of curriculum and instruction for SPED.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to develop IEPs through ARD for each student.
• Implement instructional, therapeutic, or skill development programs and document via lesson plans and data.
• Plan and use instruction reflecting varied learning styles and needs.
• Assist regular teachers by modifying curricula and supporting SPED students in general classes.
• Participate in ARD meetings and administer assessments to inform planning.
• Present material according to IEP guidelines and use diverse instructional methods.
• Oversee instructional assistants and volunteers; use technology in teaching.
• Follow district policies and participate in ongoing staff development.
