Job summary

Springtown Elementary in Springtown, TX is seeking a Special Education Aide to support students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom. You will assist in implementing classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instructional routines.

Under the supervision of a certified teacher, you will prepare materials, keep the classroom orderly, supervise students, and support substitute teachers while following district safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Help teacher prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Assist students with physical disabilities including transfers and personal care as needed.
• Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
• Help manage behavior of students and intervene as needed.
• Adapt methods to meet individual medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs.
• Supervise students during school hours (lunch, bus, playground).
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Participate in staff development and follow safety procedures.
