Location: Ascent Classical Academy of Douglas County (ACADC) – Lone Tree, Colorado
Reports To: Dean of Student Services
FLSA Status: Exempt
Work Schedule: Faculty Calendar, Monday–Friday
Typical School Hours: 7:00 a.m.–3:35 p.m.

Position Summary

Ascent Classical Academy of Douglas County is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Special Education Teacher/Case Manager to support students with diverse learning needs. This position is responsible for managing a special education caseload, providing individualized instruction and research-based interventions, developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and collaborating with students, families, teachers, and other stakeholders to promote student success.

Essential Responsibilities


  • Maintain a special education caseload while ensuring compliance with required timelines, best practices, and applicable state and federal regulations.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs that support academic growth, social development, and access to educational opportunities.

  • Conduct special education evaluations and collaborate with appropriate team members regarding eligibility decisions.

  • Provide research-based interventions and individualized instruction to students with learning disabilities.

  • Deliver services through appropriate instructional models, including individual, small-group, pull‑out, and push‑in support.

  • Provide services aligned with Ascent Classical Academies' content‑rich curriculum.

  • Reinforce classroom lessons through one‑on‑one and small‑group instruction and help students develop organizational, study, and learning skills.

  • Supervise and support special education program paraprofessionals.

  • Collaborate regularly with general education teachers, special education staff, parents/guardians, and external stakeholders to support student success.

  • Participate in meetings, conferences, trainings, and professional development activities.

  • Implement and monitor behavior management plans using positive strategies and interventions.

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential student records, including documentation of IEP progress and behavioral data.

  • Promote inclusion by facilitating student participation in general education classrooms, school activities, and the broader school community.

  • As needed, assist students with daily living skills, adaptive equipment, and mobility support.

  • Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment and respond appropriately to emergencies in accordance with school protocols.

  • Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance by adhering to assigned work hours and following established procedures for absences and tardiness.

  • Complete all required training and provide requested documentation, including transcripts, certifications, and other pertinent credentials.

  • Adhere to all Ascent Classical Academies policies, including the Employee Handbook, Family Handbook, and applicable school and board policies.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Note: Staff may occasionally be required to attend meetings, professional development, or other school‑related activities outside the regular school day.


Required Qualifications and Skills


  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.

  • Current Colorado teaching license with the appropriate Special Education endorsement, preferably Special Education Generalist K–12.

  • Experience providing special education services in both pull‑out and push‑in settings preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of relevant academic content areas and willingness to participate in school‑specific training.
