Job summary

Onward Education is partnering with a local district in Hartford County, CT to hire a Special Education Teacher for an in-person Behavior Support classroom. This contract role runs from September 14, 2026 through October 1, 2026 with a potential extension, and is based on-site in Hartford County.

You will lead a structured classroom, implement consistent routines, and apply evidence-based behavior supports to help students access learning and grow academically and socially.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching students with emotional and/or behavioral needs.
• Comfort teaching in a highly structured setting with routines and supports.
• Strong collaboration and communication with school-based teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide special education instruction and classroom leadership in a structured behavior-support environment.
• Implement classroom systems that promote regulation, safety, and readiness to learn, including routines and de-escalation supports.
• Use evidence-based approaches to support student behavior and social skills development.
• Collaborate with school staff to align behavior plans and progress monitoring.
• Communicate proactively with the team regarding student needs and escalation patterns.
