Job summary

Oswego Community Unit School District 308 is seeking a Special Education Teacher Assistant 1:1 to support a student with a medical need in a general education classroom at Boulder Hill Elementary School. The role includes accompanying the student in class, during recess, and transitions, under the direction of Special Education Teachers.

Candidates must hold a Teacher Assistant licensure; Certified Nurse Assistant background is preferred.

Qualifications

O swego Community Unit School District 308 is currently seeking exceptional candidates for the position of Special Education Teacher Assistant. Special Education Teacher Assistants play a vital role in supporting the academic, behavioral, and health/hygiene needs of our students as directed by Special Education Teachers.

This Special Education Teacher Assistant role will be assigned to support a student with a medical need in a general education classroom. Certified Nurse Assistant Background is preferred. Candidate will have to hold a Teacher Assistant licensure to fulfill the role and will have the title of Teacher Assistant. This will include accompanying the student in the classroom, at both indoor and outdoor recess, and at times of transition throughout the building.
Work hours: 8:45am -4:15pm

Successful candidates will have a desire to assist students with specialized needs to achieve their goals and reach their highest potential, knowledge (or the ability to obtain knowledge of) best practices for working with children and young adults that have specialized needs, skill in applying general written and verbal guidance to specific work situations, and the ability to lift and move up to thirty pounds without assistance or to assist with lifting and moving up to fifty pounds.

Selected candidates will receive a competitive salary, $21.25 per hour, and benefit package;
