Description

Shakopee Public Schools is seeking a dedicated 1.0 FTE Center-Based Special Education (SpEd) Teacher for the 2025-26 school year. The role involves serving students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and related disabilities at Red Oak Elementary.

Job Summary

Responsible for providing direct and indirect services to students with learning, communication, social, emotional, and behavioral needs. The teacher will monitor and document student progress, develop and manage IEPs and BIPs, facilitate team meetings, oversee paraprofessionals, and collaborate with families and staff to implement services and strategies.

Qualifications
  • Current MN teaching license in ASD, EBD, DCD, or ABS.
  • Prior teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience with multiple instructional designs and differentiated instruction.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to build successful relationships with students, parents, and staff.
Working Conditions
  • Physical ability to attend to personal care needs of students if necessary.
  • Classroom, office, lifting, pushing, pulling, standing, sitting, keyboarding, etc.
