Job summary

Great Hearts Academies is seeking a Special Education Teacher for grades K-5 at the Northern Oaks campus in San Antonio. The teacher will design instruction aligned to individual IEP goals and provide both direct and consultative services in collaboration with general education staff.

Responsibilities include writing and maintaining IEPs, leading committee meetings, tracking student progress, and coordinating with parents, staff, and related service providers to support successful transitions

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• 1–2 years of special education experience.
• Valid TX Special Education Certification and Generalist or Core Academic Subject Area for grades served.
• US work authorization required.
• Background check and fingerprint clearance required.
• Local travel for training may be needed.

Responsibilities

• Plan lessons aligned with individual IEP goals (Specially Designed Instruction).
• Teach subjects and lessons to students receiving special education and related services.
• Monitor and track student progress.
• Provide direct and consultative services to students with IEPs in the school environment.
• Write and maintain all IEPs, Prior Written Notices, and evaluation paperwork per state and federal guidelines.
• Plan and facilitate committee meetings and communicate with parents and staff regarding student planning and progress.
• Coordinate transitions for new enrollees eligible for special education and related services.
