Role Description

The Special Education Teacher is a full-time, on-site role located in the Greater Philadelphia area within Millville Public Schools. This role involves planning and delivering individualized and small-group instruction for students with disabilities, aligned with IEP goals and state standards. The teacher collaborates with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to support student progress and inclusion in school activities. Responsibilities include assessing student needs, developing and implementing behavior and learning supports, monitoring progress, and maintaining accurate documentation. The role also involves participating in IEP meetings, communicating regularly with caregivers, and engaging in professional development to strengthen instructional practices.

Qualifications

• Experience working with students with disabilities and knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and evidence-based interventions.
• Strong teaching skills, including lesson planning, classroom management, and differentiated instruction at the middle school level.
• Special Education expertise, including instructional strategies, accommodations, and modifications that support diverse learning needs.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with students, families, colleagues, and support staff, both in writing and verbally.
• Valid Special Education teaching certification (or eligibility) for New Jersey; a bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
• Ability to use educational technology and data to inform instruction and track student progress.
• Commitment to inclusive practices, cultural responsiveness, and fostering a positive, supportive learning environment.
• Prior experience in public school settings and familiarity with middle school curricula is preferred.
