Job summary

Grand Blanc Community Schools is seeking a dedicated special education teacher to join our team. This on-site role requires a valid Michigan teaching certificate, endorsement in special education, and proven experience with students with disabilities.

You will collaborate with families, monitor IEP goals, deliver research-based instruction, supervise para-educators, and participate in evaluations, ensuring all students receive appropriate supports and opportunities for success during the school

Qualifications

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate.
  • Full approval in at least one area of special education.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven successful experience in working with students with disabilities.
  • The ability to engage students actively and meaningfully in learning.

Responsibilities

  • Use instructional strategies designed to benefit all students.
  • Monitor and track the implementation of IEP goals, supplemental aides, services and supports.
  • The teacher will serve as a primary contact for parents and legal guardians for their assigned caseload students.
  • The teacher will assess student progress and determine the need for additional instructional support.
  • The assigned teacher will use research-based instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives that are written into each student's IEP.
  • The assigned teacher will provide direction, and supervision to the para educators that are assigned to work with students that are on their caseload.
  • The teacher will comply with Board of Education policies and all state/federal rules and regulations.
  • The teacher will provide other services as directed by the Executive Director of Student Support Services and the assigned building principal.
  • The teacher will collaborate and consult with classroom teachers in order to meet the need of their assigned caseload students.
  • The teacher will conduct special education evaluations and reevaluations.
  • All other duties assigned
