Job Description

Ellington Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Teacher at Ellington High School to support students with reading and writing instruction. The special education program is designed to provide specialized instruction in the least restrictive environment to students who require services in the areas of reading, writing and transition. Through a collaborative approach between special education teachers, general education teachers, paraprofessionals and related service personnel, students are provided an individualized education program that ensures the improvement of skills in all domains. Responsibilities of the special education teacher include leading PPTs and ensuring timelines are met, case manager responsibilities, writing and implementing student IEPs, planning and implementing research based instruction, assessments and evaluations for initial referrals and reevaluations and progress monitoring and reporting.
