The Center School's Connecticut Education Center in Enfield, CT invites applicants for the position of Special Education Teacher. The teacher will develop age/grade appropriate lesson plans, provide academic leadership in the classroom, document data, and participate in professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field required.
• Master’s degree in special education preferred.
• Connecticut Special Education licensure (or waiverable) required.

Responsibilities

• Provide and instruct age/grade appropriate lesson plans.
• Maintain evaluation records on all assigned students.
• Maintain appropriate lesson plans and materials for lessons in case of absence.
• Provide appropriate homework for each student.

• Communicate with other organizations regarding youth progress, as requested.

Job Description

Connecticut Education Center (Enfield and East Hartford CT) invites applicants for the position of Special Education Teacher. The Teacher will provide instruction and age/grade appropriate lesson plans, provide academic leadership in the classroom, provide clear documentation and data collection, and participate in professional development. Position is full time, 52 weeks per year. Competitive salary commensurate with experience. Qualifications: Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; a Master’s degree in special education is preferred. Qualified candidates will have Connecticut Special Education licensure (or waiverable).

Job Responsibilities of the CEC Teacher

• Provide and instruct age/grade appropriate lesson plans.
• Maintain evaluation records on all assigned students.
• Maintain appropriate lesson plans and materials required for lessons in case of absence.
• Provide appropriate homework for each student.
• Assign and correct student work.
• Communicate with other organizations regarding youth progress, as requested.
• Obtain and/or develop appropriate curricular materials in all subjects.
• Complete student evaluation reporting forms as needed.
• Complete daily paperwork.
• Arrange for all testing needs of students as prescribed by IEP and advocate for any other testing or service needs.
• Administer standardized and informal tests appropriate to credentials.
• Provide input for IEP development, case management and treatment planning.
• Provide a rough draft IEP for Team meetings ahead of time and seek appropriate service providers for input in the development of the document.
• Attend IEP, review and emergency meetings as requested and needed.
• Remain current with CSDE and DESE regulations applicable to special education, i.e. SBAC/MCAS.
• Attend all scheduled teacher meetings, IEP meetings, staff meetings, and staff trainings.
• Participate in supervision.
• Assist in interventions as needed and assist in maintaining the safety of the building.
