The Special Education Teacher provides academic and functional instruction to students diagnosed with Autism or Pervasive Developmental Disorder in a school setting. Responsibilities include monitoring student academic and functional achievement through data collection, observation, and other quantitative methods; observing and recording student progress daily; developing and monitoring student's IEP, reports, goals, and objectives; attending IEP meetings; establishing, maintaining, and working toward student goals as outlined in the IEP; and managing student behavior through individualized motivational systems, the S.M.A.R.T. Program, and positive behavior support plans.
