Job summary

East Rockingham High School in Elkton, Virginia is seeking a Teacher Assistant for the Special Education Adapted program. This is a 10-month, full-time position. The successful candidate will support instruction, maintain an empathetic attitude toward disabled students, and collaborate with staff, parents, and students.

CPR/AED/First Aid certification is preferred; driving list eligibility is required by RCPS. Starting date is August 10, 2026.

Qualifications

• Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Two years of college (12 undergrad credits in math/English) or a passing ParaPro score preferred.
• Empathetic attitude toward disabled students; willingness to learn specialized instructional/management techniques.
• Willing to obtain CPR/AED/First Aid certification.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
