Job summary

Frederick County Public Schools seeks a Special Education Instructional Assistant for Expressions at North Frederick Elementary School. You will support students with special needs under certified teachers and help implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Position requires working closely with staff, documenting progress, and assisting with personal care and mobility as required. Training opportunities and a team-oriented environment are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Title One may require 48 college credits or an AA degree.
• Experience working with students with behavioral, communicative and/or intellectual needs.
• CPR/First Aid and Crisis Prevention training within the first year of hire.
• Ability to communicate clearly and follow directions.

Responsibilities

• Supports students under the direction of a certificated FCPS staff.
• Communicates and documents student progress.
• Sets up and adapts materials and assistive devices as directed.
• Monitors and assists students toward independence.
• Assists with routine personal care and mobility needs.
• Participates in crisis intervention when needed.
• Attends IEP and staff meetings as directed.
