Salary Range: $65,000.00 To $85,000.00 Annually

Job Title: Special Education STEM Teacher

Location: Northside Charter High School

School Year: 2025-2026

Position Summary

Northside Charter High School seeks a dedicated and innovative Special Education STEM Teacher for the 2025-2026 academic year. The ideal candidate will provide engaging instruction in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) while supporting diverse learners through differentiated instruction, individualized accommodations, and inclusive teaching strategies. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative and student-centered environment that values both academic growth and social-emotional development.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Plan and implement engaging, standards-aligned lessons in STEM subjects, including mathematics and science, based on expertise and student needs.
  2. Differentiating instruction to support students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and diverse learning needs.
  3. Utilize hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences to foster problem-solving, critical thinking, and real-world application of STEM concepts.
Student Support & Engagement
  1. Develop and implement strategies to support math fluency, scientific inquiry, and technology integration for students with varying abilities.
  2. Provide small-group instruction, one-on-one support, and scaffolded learning activities to ensure student success.
  3. Utilize assistive technology, visual supports, and alternative instructional methods to enhance accessibility.
Assessment & Individualized Instruction
  1. Administer assessments to evaluate student progress, provide timely feedback, and adjust instruction based on data and student needs.
  2. Collaborate with the Special Education team to develop and implement IEP goals, progress monitoring, and accommodations/modifications.
  3. Work closely with general education STEM teachers to co-teach or provide push-in/pull-out support as needed.
  4. Maintain an organized, structured, and student-centered learning environment, particularly in science labs and hands-on activities.
  5. Partner with colleagues to align curriculum, share resources, and participate in professional learning communities (PLCs).
  6. Communicate proactively with parents, guardians, and support staff regarding student progress and classroom activities.
Qualifications
Required:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Mathematics, Science, or a related STEM field.
  2. Valid teaching certification in Special Education (or ability to obtain certification before the start date).
  3. Experience working with students with disabilities at the secondary level.
Preferred:
  1. Master’s degree in Special Education, STEM Education, or a related field.
  2. Experience with co-teaching models, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and assistive technology.
  3. Strong proficiency in integrating technology, coding, engineering principles, and hands-on learning experiences into instruction.
