Job summary

Wayne County Public Schools at Meadow Lane Elementary is seeking an EC Self-Contained Teacher. A Bachelor’s degree in Education with a valid North Carolina teaching certificate is required.

The position is ten months with salary based on the state salary scale. Responsibilities include planning and delivering instruction tailored to students with special needs, maintaining an orderly classroom, assessing progress, and collaborating with staff and families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education and valid teaching certificate in North Carolina.
• Ten-month employment / FLSA Exempt.
• Salary based on state salary scale.

Responsibilities

• Plan a program of study that meets individual needs and aligns with school, district and state guidelines.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students’ maturity and interests.
• Guide learning toward curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for lessons and units.
• Employ effective instructional methods and materials to meet stated objectives.
• Assess student progress regularly and provide required progress reports.
• Counsel with colleagues, students and parents on a regular basis.
• Assist administration in implementing policies and maintaining classroom order and appropriate behavior.
• Plan and supervise assignments for teacher assistants and evaluate their performance.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in committees and school initiatives.
