Job summary

Qualifications

• Must hold or have the ability to obtain North Carolina Teacher Licensure OR must meet the qualifications for Residency Teacher Licensure
• Must hold or have the ability to obtain EC Certification
• Must have knowledge of curriculum
• Must have knowledge of referral and placement procedures

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements an instructional plan compatible with curricular goals and students’ IEPs
• Develops IEPs for students with disabilities and uses assessments to update them
• Provides direct special education instruction to identified students
• Employs varied teaching methods and adapts materials as needed
• Creates Classroom Management Plans
• Monitors behavior and implements behavior plans (BIP); records and reports restraints when necessary
• Provides daily social skills instruction and practice opportunities
• Assists students with personal and self-help needs
• Facilitates, develops and monitors Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) as needed
• Monitors academic and attendance performance
• Communicates with parents regarding progress via written reports
• Acts as case coordinator with community caregivers and school professionals
• Maintains student records per state procedures and laws
• Performs other duties as assigned
