Job summary

San Marcos CISD is seeking a Special Education Teacher for Science (26-27 SY). This full-time, exempt role provides a salary from $55,400 per year.

The teacher will collaborate with ARD committees, develop IEP goals, and adapt curriculum for students with special needs in a self-contained or team setting. The ideal candidate holds a Texas SPED certificate, with endorsements, and will obtain ESL certification within 12 months for applicable grades.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate, with required special education endorsements.
• ESL Certification is required within twelve months of employment for K-5 General Education, 6-12 ELAR and SPED ACL teachers.
• Knowledge of ARD/IEP processes and IEP goal setting and implementation.
• General knowledge of curriculum and instruction; collaboration skills.
• At least one year of student teaching or approved internship.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with students, parents and staff to develop IEPs through ARD.
• Implement instructional or therapeutic programs for assigned students.
• Plan and adapt instructional materials reflecting individual needs.
• Collaborate with teachers to modify regular curricula and assist students in regular classes.
• Prepare for ARD meetings by updating IEPs and administering assessments.
• Participate in ARD meetings by presenting progress and goals.
• Distribute IEP paperwork and implement accommodations/modifications.
• Assess student achievement through formal and informal testing.
• Maintain communication with families and participate in district staff development.
