Special Education Resource Teacher (Split Positions b/w Lakeview and East Elementary Schools)

Join to apply for the Special Education Resource Teacher (Split Positions b/w Lakeview and East Elementary Schools) role at Zion Elementary School District 6.

This position involves planning and providing appropriate learning experiences for students in accordance with district standards and policies. The teacher will supervise students, develop instructional plans, assess student progress, and collaborate with colleagues and families to support student success.

Location: Servicing Students at Lakeview and East Elementary Schools

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field; Illinois Professional Educator License with endorsements in Special Education.
  • Experience with curriculum design, planning, and instruction.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Job Summary: Under the direction of the Building Principal or Director of Special Education, the teacher will plan and deliver instruction, monitor and evaluate student outcomes, and participate in district and school initiatives.

Essential Job Skills:

  • Supervising students and monitoring student outcomes.
  • Developing and modifying instructional plans to meet diverse student needs.
  • Assessing student progress and providing feedback.
  • Maintaining classroom organization and discipline.

Other Duties:

  • Engaging with students, parents, staff, and community members.
  • Participating in meetings, committees, and professional development.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to improve instructional practices.

Teaching Framework Responsibilities: The educator plans and demonstrates practices aligned with content knowledge, student backgrounds, resources, assessment, and classroom management, following the Charlotte Danielson Framework for Teaching.

Mental Demands and Working Conditions: Effective communication, emotional control, use of technology, and working in indoor and outdoor school environments are required.
