Job summary

Saginaw Public Schools seeks a certified/licensed learning disabilities teacher to plan, organize, and implement an instructional program. You will collaborate with peers, administrators, and families to drive turnaround and student success in a multi-cultural urban setting.

Responsibilities include coordinating IEPs, maintaining records, providing direct instruction, and aligning services with the district plan.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
• Meet professional teacher education requirements of School, District, and State.
• Single subject teaching credential or Certification for a specialized subject.
• State certification including endorsements for a specific subject/area.
• Relevant teaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate scheduling of IEP, MET and Manifestation Determination meetings with parent notifications.
• Maintain accurate records for students on caseload (IEP, attendance, discipline).
• Provide input on impact of disabilities on discipline to building principal.
• Maintain binder of recent IEPs and discipline actions for admin review.
• Provide regular progress updates to parents on IEP goals.
• Develop and organize IEP documents with goals and objectives.
• Plan, coordinate and chair the IEP process for caseload students.
• Oversee instructional services for all students on caseload and provide direct instruction as per IEP.
• Support general education staff with accommodations and needs of special education students.
• Provide supplemental instruction to align with general curriculum.
• Maintain daily service schedules showing frequency and duration.
• Assist with scheduling coursework for special education students.
• Provide input/reports for MET team for evaluations and placements.
• Adopt instructional strategies aligned with district plan and goals.
• Maintain ongoing communication with general education staff, families and administration.
• Stay updated on special education laws and regulations and apply changes accordingly.
• Update special education office on new students/address changes.
• Disseminate paperwork and send copies to records within 10 days of meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
