Job summary

Family of Kidz in Nassau County, NY is seeking a Special Educator to provide resource room support across multiple schools. You’ll deliver small-group instruction aligned with IEP goals and develop individualized lesson plans within a collaborative team.

Part-time or full-time potential; hours during school days; compensation $60/hour; benefits available. You can tailor your schedule while contributing to student growth and family collaboration.

Qualifications

• Must hold NYS SWD certification for relevant grades.
• Minimum of 1 year experience supporting children and families.
• Bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, small-group instruction aligned with students’ IEP goals.
• Develop and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to student needs.
• Adapt curriculum materials and instructional strategies for diverse learners.
• Review, understand, and implement each student’s IEP mandates.
• Collect ongoing progress data and prepare quarterly progress reports.
• Maintain accurate session notes and submit documentation on time.
• Communicate regularly with general education teachers regarding student needs and accommodations.
• Participate in CSE/IEP meetings as needed.
• Maintain professional communication with families and school staff.
• Create a structured, supportive learning environment.
• Implement positive behavior support strategies and routines.
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on data.
