Job summary

Iowa Department of Education seeks an Education Program Consultant to guide continuous improvement in the Division of Special Education. You will provide professional learning, focus on evidence-based practices, and support SDI for students with academic and behavioral needs.

You'll work on statewide collaboration, policy knowledge, and data-driven evaluation, with travel as required. The role emphasizes leadership without formal supervision and collaboration with diverse teams.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college with five years of post-grad work in education or related areas.
• Master’s degree plus teaching certificate and three academic years of relevant experience.
• Experience providing professional learning to educators and technical assistance.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional learning for statewide scaling and implementation of evidence-based practices.
• Deliver Specially Designed Instruction guidance for students with needs.
• Facilitate development and delivery teams and provide evaluation-focused TA.
• Design and deliver instruction and supports; support implementation scale-up.
• Monitor IDEA implementation with data collection and corrective action where needed.
• Stay current on state/federal policy and impacts of legislation on programs.
