Job summary

The Illinois Association of School Administrators seeks a Special Education Program Monitor (Principal Consultant) to partner with districts on special education services, lead monitoring teams, and provide coaching and data-driven supports from our Chicago office.

The role requires a Master’s degree in Special Education or related field, plus relevant experience and strong knowledge of federal/state laws. Salary ranges are competitive, with standard office hours and district-wide responsibility.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Special Education or related field; or a Bachelor’s degree plus two years of relevant experience.
• Two years of experience providing education, special education, or pupil personnel services to students with disabilities in public or non-public schools.
• Working knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding students with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Serves as liaison between school districts and cooperatives and the department regarding special education services.
• Provides a point of contact within the Agency for assigned districts.
• Connects and follows up regarding questions and needs.
• Identifies trends and provides proactive support.
• Leads and participates in monitoring and support teams.
• Researches, develops, and provides training, technical assistance and coaching supports to districts.
• Develops and supports data analysis, improvement planning, and effective evaluation to improve results.
• Makes findings and evaluates corrective action to address non-compliance.
• Participates in regulatory functions of general supervision.
• Represents the Agency and provides technical assistance regarding data collection and reporting.
