Job summary

Crescent Academy is seeking a full-time Special Education Coordinator to ensure high-quality educational services for students with disabilities in line with IDEA and ADA.

The successful candidate will advocate for students with special needs, collaborate with teachers, parents, and staff, and lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of IEPs while maintaining compliant records. Requires a master’s degree and valid credentials.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Special Education or related field.
• Michigan teaching certification with Special Education endorsement.
• 3–5 years of experience in special education; leadership/coordination preferred.
• Strong knowledge of federal/state special education laws and regulations.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate with students, parents, educators, and community organizations.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with educators to develop and implement effective instructional strategies and accommodations.
• Oversee IEP development, implementation, and evaluation for students with disabilities.
• Oversee referral, assessment, and placement processes for students suspected of having disabilities.
• Lead and support Special Education staff, fostering a collaborative environment.
• Provide training and ongoing professional development for staff on strategies for supporting students with disabilities.
• Ensure all processes adhere to legal and regulatory requirements, including timely evaluations and reporting.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records, ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Serve as a liaison between families and the school, address concerns, and facilitate communication.
• Develop partnerships with community organizations to enhance support for students.
• Assist with office operations and maintain documents and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
• Work independently and with others to fulfill school goals and objectives.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
