Job summary

Rowan-Salisbury School System in Salisbury, NC is seeking an EC Policy and Monitoring Coordinator to serve as a Compliance Specialist for the Exceptional Children’s Department, ensuring local, state, and federal compliance and supporting staff training.

The role reports to the Executive Director of Exceptional Children and includes auditing records, monitoring indicators, coordinating with ECATS, and preparing reports to support programming decisions and accountability.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of teaching experience in an area of special education.
• Teaching licensure in Exceptional Children area.
• Knowledge and understanding of special education policies and procedures.
• Experience working directly with creation and implementation of Individualized Education Programs.
• Preferred district experience or administrative license.

Responsibilities

• Planning, training, implementation and monitoring of a comprehensive system for auditing special education records to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
• Examines programmatic issues within the district and works with the Executive Director of Exceptional Children on compliance areas/needs.
• Primary contact for ECATS including access, training, reporting, implementation, maintenance and state liaison
• Training staff to improve their understanding of and compliance with the special education laws and regulations.
• Creates and distributes reports to support programming needs, headcount information, funding needs and other areas, as needed.
• Works closely with staff and agencies who assist with Medicaid reimburse for services provided by RSS.
• Communicates new developments in special education law to teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders.
• Assess current data collection and compilation for completeness and accuracy, along with determining other information that might be useful to administrators and/or teachers as they design and implement special education programs and services.
• Collaborates with state compliance and monitoring section
• Completes internal, state, and federal audit tasks and reports.
• Monitors and submits all Indicator Federal Reporting Data.
• Works directly with local and state officials to certify Child Count and other Indicator measures.
• Supports the knowledge of school Program Specialists and provides problem-solving guidance.
• Serves as primary contact and support for School Psychology Team
• Collaborates with the Assistant Director of Exceptional Children and others as needed
• Completes all duties assigned by the Executive Director or Assistant Director of Exceptional Children
