Position Purpose

Milton School District is seeking a caring, dependable, and student‑centered Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with disabilities across a range of academic, behavioral, and social‑emotional needs. This role is instrumental in fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment where all students feel empowered to succeed.

Responsibilities

• Support students individually and in small groups under the supervision of certified staff.
• Reinforce learning objectives across academic areas, including reading, math, writing, and life skills.
• Implement accommodations and modifications as directed by Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and student support teams.
• Assist with behavioral and social‑emotional support in both structured and unstructured settings.
• Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, during lunch and recess, at arrival and dismissal, and on field trips.
• Support students with disabilities in completing activities of daily living, if needed.
• Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals.
• Collaborate with teachers, case managers, and related service providers to promote student success.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and positive classroom environment.
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding student information and records.
• Participate in team meetings and professional development as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• New Hampshire Certification as a Paraprofessional (Para I or Para II). The Milton School District is willing to assist applicants in obtaining their certification after they are hired.
• Experience working with students with disabilities or in a school setting is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including patience, empathy, and consistency.
• Ability to support students with physical or behavioral challenges in a respectful and effective manner.
• Willingness to be trained in safety protocols and behavior management strategies (CPI certification preferred or willing to obtain).
• Reliable, team‑oriented, and committed to supporting student growth and independence.
