Job summary

North Kansas City Schools is seeking a 2026-27 Special Education Paraprofessional - Tier 3 to assist in supervising and supporting students with special needs in regular or self-contained classrooms. The role includes health-related duties, modeling instructional skills, and implementing IEP plans under supervision.

The position requires flexibility to adapt activities, strong teamwork, and the ability to handle a dynamic school environment with confidentiality and care for students’ wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Knowledge is required to perform basic math, read manuals, and follow prescribed formats.
• Skills include adhering to safety practices, operating standard office equipment, and maintaining records.
• Ability to schedule activities, work with diverse groups, and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom activities and materials to support objectives.
• Administers first aid and health-related assistance as directed by a health professional.
• Administers tests and assigns make-up work to support instructional goals.
• Communicates with instructional staff to evaluate progress and implement IEP objectives.
• Maintains instructional materials, equipment, and records for mandated requirements.
• Monitors students in various settings to maintain a safe learning environment.
• Participates in meetings and trainings to improve job performance.
• Performs routine clerical duties to support teachers.
