Job summary

Hastings Public Schools seeks a Paraprofessional/Pupil Support Assistant for the LEAP Program at McAuliffe Elementary School. The role focuses on instructional reinforcement, behavior support, and daily living activities in a center-based classroom for ASD/DCD.

The position is 6.25 hours per day with a 30-minute unpaid lunch for the 2026-27 year, with variations in 2027-28. Starting wage is $22.07 per hour, with district benefits and holidays.

Qualifications

• Two years of qualifying college credits (usually 60 credits) through an accredited institution
• An associates or higher degree with qualifying coursework
• A passing score on a valid and reliable formal assessment

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed teacher with instructional reinforcement and accommodations
• Assist with data collection and behavior management
• Support student learning in academics and social-emotional needs
• Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed
• Follow district policies and emergency procedures
• Reinforce instruction through small group or individual activities
• Be flexible with schedule changes and student assignments
• Supervise students during lunch and arrival/departure
• Maintain confidentiality of information about students and staff
