Job summary

Washington County Public Schools seeks a Paraprofessional for Enhanced Summit at Funkstown. The role supports teachers, provides behavior and emotional support to students in learning support and general education settings.

Requirements include a High School Diploma/GED, Highly Qualified status, and two years’ experience with emotionally disturbed/behavioral issues. Training in crisis de-escalation may be provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Highly Qualified status per state guidelines.
• Two years’ experience with children with emotional disturbance/behavioral issues preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher to reinforce skills for individuals or small groups.
• Support behavior and emotional regulation in learning environments.
• Participate in crisis response and safe restraint when necessary.
• Help maintain organized classroom and positive learning environment.
• Supervise students during instructional and non-instructional activities.
