Job summary

Stafford County Public Schools in Fredericksburg, VA, seeks a Paraprofessional – Special Education Level 1 to assist with students with disabilities in a school-based setting.

Under supervision of the building administrator and SPED teachers, you will support instructional activities, assist with self-care tasks, monitor safety, and help implement IEP goals. This role requires compassion, reliability, and teamwork.

• Awareness of needs of students with disabilities and alternative instructional strategies.

Responsibilities

• Assists student(s) in physical tasks and reinforce instructional content.
• Supervise students during drills, assemblies, play periods, field trips, and activities.
• Work with small groups to reinforce material under teacher direction.
• Maintain supportive relationship and provide progress information to staff.
• Operate and care for equipment used in the instructional program.
• Assist in maintaining a classroom environment and implement strategies.
• Serve as information source for substitute teachers in absence of SPED teacher.
• Assist with collection/distribution of instructional materials and documentation.
