Job summary

Stafford County Public Schools seeks a Paraprofessional – Special Education to work in a school-based setting, providing physical assistance and emotional support to help students with disabilities engage in classroom activities.

Under the supervision of the building administrator and SPED teachers, you will support individuals or small groups, reinforce instructional content, manage materials, and help maintain a safe, supportive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic curriculum expectations and IEP goals is required.
• Ability to use basic computer applications.
• Awareness of needs of students with disabilities and alternate instructional strategies.

Responsibilities

• Assist student(s) in physical tasks and reinforce instructional content.
• Work with small groups to reinforce material as directed by the teacher.
• Establish a supportive relationship with students and communicate progress to staff.
• Operate and care for equipment used in instruction.
• Assist in maintaining a productive classroom environment and implement strategies.
• Assist with supervision during drills, assemblies, field trips, and instructional activities.
• Serve as primary information source for substitutes in the absence of the Special Education teacher.
• Assist with distributing instructional materials and keeping student records.
