Job summary

Signal Centers in Tennessee seeks a Special Education Paraprofessional to assist children in our early education program and support IEP goals.

We offer part-time shifts, require fingerprinting and TB screening, and encourage growth through ongoing education and potential CDA/associate degree advancement.

Qualifications

  • Requires HS Diploma or GED.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Minimum one year experience with young children.
  • Experience with special needs is desirable.
  • Willingness to pursue CDA or an Associate degree is desirable for advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in daily activities that are developmentally appropriate.
  • Support the educational and IEP goals of children in the classroom.
  • Observe children for signs of illness or sickness.
  • Treat children, parents, and staff with respect.
  • Follow confidentiality standards regarding students and their families.
  • Participates in at least 42 hours of continuing education annually.

Job description

Special Education Paraprofessional - Part Time

Signal Centers is looking for a Special Education Paraprofessional to work with children in our early education and childcare program and support those with special needs as they work towards their IEP goals.

We have 2 part-time positions, Monday - Friday, from 7:30 A.M. - 12:30 P.M. and/or 12:30 P.M. - 5:30 P.M.

Will be required to get TBI Fingerprinting and a health screening with TB skin test completed.

Qualifications Include
  • HS Diploma/GED required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have a High school Diploma/GED.
  • Must have at least one-year experience working with children 6 wks - 5 yrs old in a professional childcare/educational setting.
  • Experience working with children or adults with special needs is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of childcare licensing rules is highly desirable.
  • Willingness to obtain a CDA (Child Dev. Associate) Certificate or Associate degree is highly desirable for advancement opportunities.
Responsibilities Include
  • Actively participate in daily activities that are developmentally appropriate.
  • Actively support the educational and IEP goals of children in the classroom.
  • Observe children for signs of illness\sickness.
  • Treat children, parents, and staff with respect.
  • Maintain a harmonious working relationship.
  • Refer parent questions, comments and/or concerns to the Lead Teacher, Coordinator, or Director/Asst. Director as needed.
  • Follow confidentiality standards regarding students and their families.
  • Quickly respond to personal needs of children.
  • Follow positive discipline procedures as directed.
  • Primarily responsible for following the TN Diapering process for those students not toilet trained.
  • Primarily responsible for maintaining mealtime health practices by prepping and cleaning tables and supplies for breakfast and lunch.
  • Primarily responsible for maintaining weekly and/or daily rest-time laundry.Primarily responsible for prepping soap/water cleaning solution when needed and fill sanitizing/disinfecting bleach water solution at the end of shift each day for the following day.
  • Assist in maintaining equipment, toys, and materials in a clean, safe, organized, and accessible order.
  • Assist in preparing supplies/materials for activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher, Coordinator, or Director/Asst. Director.
  • Participates in at least 42 hours of continuing education annually including mandatory in-service training days.
